 As a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) and former Director of Patient Safety and Risk Management, Shannon Hurst has led investigations into serious patient harm events within hospital systems. Her work included reviewing adverse events, conducting root cause analyses, evaluating system failures, analyzing medical records, and interviewing clinical staff and patients.

Through this work, she collaborated directly with defense counsel and healthcare insurers to evaluate events and determine whether care met expected standards of care.

This experience provides attorneys with insight into how healthcare organizations internally evaluate adverse events, identify contributing factors, and assess documentation and clinical decision-making following patient harm.
